The transaction between the Penta investment group and the German concern Verlagsgruppe Passau was concluded today. Penta acquired the ownership right to 100% of the shares issued by Vltava-Labe-Press, a.s.

The ownership and further development of one of the most important media companies in the Czech Republic fully corresponds to Penta’s investment strategy that the group wants to pursue in Central Europe. We want to use the natural potential of the Deník newspaper, however, we want to improve regional news and to significantly strengthen the importance of the Deník newspaper in Prague and Central Bohemia. The digital development of the whole publishing house will follow.

 Zdeněk Kubát, Penta Investment director

Michal Klíma, journalist and media manager who controlled all the Czech and Slovak publishing houses (Lidové noviny, a.s., Economia, a.s., Spoločnosť 7 plus) after 1990 became VLP General Manager. In 2013 he co-founded Tablet Media, a.s., which publishes the tabloid daily newspaper Dotyk and three other tabloid magazines. Tablet Media a.s., is now part of the Penta media portfolio. It will contribute not only to strengthening the digital activities of the publishing house, but also cooperation with Astrosat Magazines Division.

The VLP Board of Directors now consists of three members, in addition to the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Michal Klíma, the existing VLP Financial Manager, Lucie Kočí and the third member will be Penta Investments Group Deputy, Dominika Kalinová.
