Today, on 29 July 2016, Penta Investments has become the owner of a majority stake of 99.5% of shares in Sberbank Slovensko, a.s. The successful conclusion of the transaction was subject to the agreement of the European Central Bank, issued during the previous week.

“The acquisition of Sberbank Slovensko is in line with our long-term strategy to strengthen our position in the Slovak banking market. We believe that our long years of experience in this area will mean further increases in the level of service and quality products for the clients of the bank,” says Iain Child, partner in Penta Investments.

The Penta Group has been active in the banking market since 2007, when it became the sole shareholder of Privatbanka, focusing on the provision of private banking services. In 2011, it became the majority owner of Prima Banka (then Dexia Bank), which focuses mainly on retail clients and the financing of towns and municipalities.
