MECOM GROUP s.r.o. is a member of the CARNIBONA GROUP, one of the strongest and fastest-developing companies in meat processing within the Central European region. It was created in 2008 by gradual mergers of significant companies with a long term tradition in this sector in Slovakia, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

CARNIBONA is among Penta’s key investment projects and administers a portfolio of companies with total assets of EUR 10.4 billion (2018). Through its 4 certified production facilities and a total production capacity of more than 10 thousand tons a year, the holding is among the leading players in the Central European market.

In 2021, Penta sold Mecom Group to the American company Smithfield Foods.
